Our Leicester Installation

Patagonia Quartzite Dining Table & Kitchen Island

, installed in Leicester. It is cream beige and has big, random geometric patterns that add texture and artistic appeal to anyone who passes by. This project was nevertheless a big man's job, as it required precise cutting and sharpened edges for the dining table, with the island looking exactly like an ice-skating floor — smooth, simple, and gliding. The lights reflected beautifully off the island. Never before had a more perfect island been crafted by us; this one was truly stupendous. The client was super happy with the outcome!

The Challenge

Did We Face Challenges With Patagonia Quartzite Installations?

This is not a small job like we talked about before; it seriously took 1 month of slab sourcing, 10 days of factory preparations, 2 days from warehouse to factory, and 1 solid day of this "Slaying Patagonia Quartzite Installation," and all are set for the next best "Wow, I need this in my home too" comment. How hard was the installation process? We are breaking it down here…

The Problem
Patagonia Quartzite is famous for its dramatic, unpredictable movement, but that beauty makes consistency a nightmare. The dining table and island needed veining that felt connected, not random.
Solution
We handpicked slabs from the same block during a month-long sourcing process, laying them out side by side before cutting. This let us map the natural flow of colour and pattern, so both pieces read as one continuous story rather than two mismatched surfaces.
The Problem
Natural quartzite is unforgiving. One miscalculated cut near the sink cutout and you've lost a slab worth thousands.
Solution
Our factory team used calibrated CNC cutting with reinforced support underneath the cutout area, cutting slowly to avoid heat stress fractures. We also pre-tested blade pressure on offcut samples from the same batch first, ensuring the actual island cutout was cut once, correctly, with zero room for costly error.
The Problem
A mitred waterfall edge only looks effortless when the joint is invisible, and Patagonia's heavy veining makes hiding seams brutally hard.
Solution
We mitred the edges at 45 degrees and carefully rotated the panels so the natural veining continued unbroken from top to leg. Ten days of factory preparation went into dry-fitting, adjusting, and polishing that joint until the seam disappeared completely under natural light.
The Problem
Getting fragile, expensive slabs from warehouse to factory to a Leicester home, without a single chip, is a logistical headache most people never see.
Solution
We used A-frame crating with foam-lined dividers for the two-day warehouse-to-factory transfer, then a dedicated stone transport team for final delivery. Careful handling meant the polished surfaces arrived install-ready, letting our fitters complete the entire dining table and island installation in one solid day.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Prices typically start from £3,500 for small tables and can go up to £15,000+ for large bespoke designs depending on slab selection, thickness, and edge detailing. Premium designer pieces can exceed this when metal bases or complex fabrication is included.
A kitchen island in Patagonia Quartzite usually starts from £5,000 – £9,000 for compact designs and can reach £30,000+ for large waterfall-edge luxury islands with custom cutouts and premium finishing.
Patagonia Quartzite is considered a rare luxury natural stone, with limited slab availability and highly unique patterns. Costs increase due to:
  • High slab pricing per m²
  • Waste during cutting (pattern matching)
  • Skilled fabrication required
  • Heavy material handling and installation complexity
Yes, if you're going for a statement luxury piece. It offers:
  • Extreme durability (heat & scratch resistant)
  • Unique natural patterns (no two slabs are identical)
  • Long lifespan (basically forever if maintained properly)
But it's not budget-friendly — you're paying for aesthetics + exclusivity.
Yes, and it's actually a popular luxury combo. However:
  • You may need 1–3 slabs depending on layout
  • Matching veining is essential for visual flow
  • Costs increase due to fabrication waste and design alignment
In the UK market, material alone typically ranges around £850 – £1,450 per m² (supply level varies by slab quality and rarity). Fabrication and installation are additional.
Yes, if budget is a concern:
  • Porcelain / Sintered stone → more affordable + ultra-durable
  • Granite → strong, natural, less expensive
  • Engineered quartz → easier maintenance, mid-range pricing
Absolutely. In Patagonia Quartzite:
  • More dramatic blue/green veining = higher cost
  • Bookmatched slabs = premium pricing
  • Rare colour movement sections are often sold faster and priced higher
Yes. Since every slab is unique, pricing is usually custom. You can share your dimensions, design style, location, and material preference — and get a tailored quote based on real slab availability.
Not always. Most UK quotes include the supply of slab and fabrication, but installation, delivery, and structural reinforcement may be separate depending on project size.
