Bianco Eclipse Quartzite Kitchen

Surrey, United Kingdom

Our Installation Story

We provided our client a few options, after looking at which they chose

Bianco Eclipse Quartzite

. The main deciding factor was this slab's natural grey veining and overall pattern. They loved knowing that each and every slab would be unique. It was for their home renovation in Surrey. They loved the look of Bianco and decided to add a full-height splashback behind the hob and a new kitchen island along with long kitchen worktops. We took careful planning to line up the veiny pattern neatly. There were some challenges, but the final look was all worth it.

The Challenge

Project Challenges & Practical Solutions

Like every project, even this one had unique bits we had to overcome, but with our committed stone experts trying their best to make it one of the most successful home renovations, of course we exceeded client expectations!

The Problem
This slab has huge grey veins in funky patterns, and our client wanted the design on the worktop and splashback to look very natural. Any mismatch would immediately interrupt the visual effect.
How We Solved It
Before fabrication, we carefully mapped the slab layout using digital templates to achieve the best possible vein alignment. Each section was CNC cut in sequence and dry-laid in our workshop before installation, allowing the veining to transition naturally from the worktop into the splashback with neatly aligned joints.
The Problem
The kitchen featured a ceramic Belfast sink together with a gas hob positioned close to the splashback. Natural quartzite leaves very little room for error when producing multiple precision cut-outs.
How We Solved It
We created all the cutouts – sink and hob cutouts – using CNC machinery. This helped us to make sure every mm was accurate. The internal edges were polished and reinforced where required, providing both structural strength and a clean, factory-quality finish around the openings.
The Problem
Quartzite is exceptionally strong but also extremely heavy. The long worktop runs beneath the windows; it required careful handling to prevent unnecessary stress during lifting and positioning.
How We Solved It
Our installation team transported the slabs using specialist lifting equipment before placing them onto fully levelled cabinetry. Every section was checked for even support and accurately jointed, preventing stress on the stone while producing smooth, seamless transitions across the entire kitchen.
Final Outcome — The finished kitchen has a clean and elegant look without feeling overdone. Look at how our experts made the natural veining of the quartzite stand out. Thanks to the dark cabinets, our whitish slab looks even more beautiful and ties the whole space together. The client absolutely loved the final look. They really appreciated our detailing in the splashback, especially. We preserved the best pattern for the centrepiece, the island, obviously. And thanks to it being a natural stone, this home in Surrey won't have to change a thing at least for the next 20 years!

The Material

Bianco Eclipse Quartzite

This slab has a mix of white and grey colours. In some slabs we see more of a white background, topped by light grey veins, while others have more concentrated grey veins in busy patterns where the white is much less visible. And because it is a natural stone, we cannot predict how the next slab will be from the stock. This is both an advantage and disadvantage. For those who love unique patterns, it is the former, while if you prefer uniform patterns and a neat look, then quartz is a better choice. But if you are here for the long-lasting option, then it is one of the smartest choices because it can take heat and heavy objects and is much less sensitive compared to marble!

FAQs

Questions About Quartzite Kitchen Worktops

Yes, quartzite is one of the hardest worktop surfaces. A slab like Bianco Eclipse would be suitable for your family kitchen, easily. It can take everyday busy use – knives, hot pans, everyday wear, and water spills.
During installation our team will seal it before handing over the kitchen to you. After that, how roughly you use the worktops decides how often you need to reseal. It is usually once every year or two.
No, natural stones do not lose their colour.
20mm and 30mm. The 2cm one is a more popular choice. A 3cm is selected by those who want a more bulky look.
Quartzite has excellent heat resistance compared to many engineered surfaces. However, using trivets or heat-resistant mats is still recommended to protect both the stone and its sealed finish from thermal shock.
Clean the surface using warm water, a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild washing-up liquid and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid acidic cleaners, bleach and abrasive pads, as they may gradually affect the protective sealer.
