Calacatta Gold 30mm Quartz

Bedfordshire, United Kingdom

Our Installation Story

This project in

Bedfordshire

was for modern homeowners who had just moved into their new home. They were a small family, so it wouldn't be a busy kitchen. We used a massive slab of

30mm Calacatta Gold Quartz

for this job, as it included lengthy U-shaped countertops with a peninsula as well as splashbacks. We went for a jumbo slab so that there would be no joints on the worktops. Look how seamlessly our stone experts have aligned the iconic golden veins across the expansive length of the worktops.

The Vision

A Substantial Quartz Surface For A Contrasting Kitchen

The kitchen layout included several connected worktop runs, a sink area beneath the window and a separate preparation section. Using the same 30mm Calacatta Gold Quartz throughout helped keep these areas visually connected. The objective was not simply to install a white worktop, but to use the thicker 30mm quartz slab to give the relatively compact kitchen a more substantial and finished appearance.

Design Objective
Give the worktop a more substantial and premium appearance.
Our Execution
Calacatta Gold Quartz was fabricated from a 30mm slab, creating a visibly thicker profile around the exposed worktop edges.
Design Objective
Add movement to the otherwise clean white surface.
Our Execution
The slab was carefully planned across the connected worktop runs so the natural-looking grey veining remained balanced throughout the kitchen.
Design Objective
Make the most of the bright area beneath the window.
Our Execution
The quartz was accurately templated around the sink and window-side layout, creating a clean preparation zone with plenty of natural light.
Design Objective
Create a strong connection between the white worktop and navy cabinetry.
Our Execution
The bright quartz was used throughout the main runs, creating a sharp contrast that makes both the cabinetry and stone more defined.
Final Look — The finished Bedfordshire kitchen has a clean and contemporary appearance, with the 30mm Calacatta Gold Quartz providing a noticeable sense of weight and quality.

30mm Calacatta Gold Quartz

This slab is a copy of the famous Italian marble called Calacatta. For this project, the stone was specified in a 30mm slab thickness. The additional thickness gives exposed edges a stronger architectural presence and can be particularly effective where the worktop is intended to look substantial rather than delicate.

Why Choose A 30mm Quartz Worktop?

Not everybody knows that something as simple as the thickness of a kitchen worktop can also make a huge difference to how a space feels visually. In this Bedfordshire kitchen, the thicker Calacatta Gold Quartz works particularly well against the dark cabinetry. The bright surface opens up the room, while the increased slab thickness gives the worktop enough visual weight to balance the strong cabinet colour.

FAQs

Questions About 30mm White and Gold Quartz Worktops

30mm refers to the thickness of the quartz slab used for the worktop. It is also called 3cm.
Both thicknesses can be suitable for kitchen worktops. The choice often comes down to the desired appearance, edge profile, cabinetry and overall kitchen design.
No. The increased thickness does not make quartz inherently more difficult to maintain. The main difference is the visual and fabrication specification rather than everyday cleaning requirements.
Yes. Quartz can be accurately fabricated for sink openings, taps and other kitchen fixtures. The exact fabrication depends on the sink type and kitchen layout.
It is designed to reproduce the visual character of Calacatta marble, particularly its white background and flowing veining. However, quartz is an engineered material, so its pattern tends to be more controlled and consistent than genuine natural marble.
