Measure Right

Measuring can never be a complicated thing if you know these things. Grab a tape measure and stretch. Measure the length first in mm (from left to right) and measure the width (stretch and measure in mm from top to bottom). Sketch out your kitchen layout, and note down the length and width. Leave space for any overhang you’d like (usually 20–30mm). Don’t stress – if you’re not confident, we can guide you through it or even arrange help from a local installer.

How to Personalise Your Worktops?

1. Select Thickness

You can choose the thickness of the Dekton worktop. Like: 20MM thickness is available for customisation.

2. Size Selection

Do you need a size that is already determined by our experts? Yes, if you're looking for a new worktop, fast with a shipping option? You can select from four predefined slab sizes:

  • 2000 × 635 mm.

  • 3000 × 635 mm.

  • 2000 × 960 mm.

  • 3000 × 960 mm.

These give flexibility for various kitchen layouts or furniture tops. You can also customise dimensions further.

3. Length and Width Inputs

You have the ability to enter your exact length and width requirements:

  • Length (min: 1000 mm, max: 3200 mm).

  • Width (min: 500 mm, max: 1600 mm). This ensures your slab is cut perfectly to your needs.

4. Edge Type Options

There are various edge profile designs you can select from, including:

  • Square edge

  • Beveled edges

  • Bullnose (full or half)

  • Pencil round

  • Shark nose

  • Mitred edge. These edge types are not just decorative—they can also add safety or match with your existing décor.

5. Edge Side Selection

Select where the edge finish should be applied:

  • Single or double front edge.

  • Left/right edge.

  • Back edge.

  • Full perimeter edge.

  • Custom edge selection. This is helpful if your worktop will be installed against a wall on one or more sides.

7. Corner Options

Choose your corner finish (the dropdown likely includes standard radius or curved options). This helps in safety (especially in homes with children) and gives a neat finish.

8. Template Upload Option

You can upload your template/drawing for precision:

  • File upload option (e.g., PDF or image of the design)

  • Download the sample template/drawing – to use as a guide for your own sketch. This is essential for complex layouts with sink or hob cutouts.

Customise Sink And Hob Cutouts Easily

Along with the length and width customisation, you can actually mention the number of cutouts you need, be it the sink or washbasin. Mention the numbers along with the tap hole and drainer grooves if needed. Just send us your cutout positions and appliance dimensions—we’ll handle the rest. At Work-tops, we’re all about giving you control without the guesswork.

Is Dekton Durable Enough For Kitchen Use?

In one word? Yes. Dekton is ultra-compact, meaning it’s resistant to heat, stains, UV rays, and scratches. It’s engineered for life—and your kitchen will love it.

How Much Does A DIY Dekton Worktop Cost Per Square Metre?

Dekton can vary depending on the finish, thickness, and slab size—but the great news? Work-tops offers some of the best market rates online, thanks to our direct partnerships with suppliers. Expect prices to start from around £180–£250 per square metre, with customisation included.

Are Dekton Worktops Heat And Scratch Resistant?

Yes to both. Place a hot pan directly on it or chop veggies without a board—it can take the heat (and the pressure). Still, we always suggest using trivets and chopping boards just to keep it looking pristine for years.

What Thickness Options Are Available For DIY Dekton Worktops?

At Work-tops, we do have thickness options like 12mm, 20mm, and 30mm. Each offers a different aesthetic and durability feel—let us know your style, and we’ll recommend the best match.

Can I Choose Edge And Corner Finishes For Dekton DIY Worktops?

Of course! From simple square edges to bullnose and bevelled options, we tailor the worktop to your exact needs. Want rounded corners for child-safe kitchens? Done.

Do You Provide A Template Service For Custom Dekton Worktops?

At the moment we do not provide the template facility. While many customers go the DIY route with their own measurements, we can cut, fabricate and deliver the slabs to your doors. But you have to hire an expert or mason to do the worktop installation.

Is It Safe To Transport A Large Dekton Slab Myself?

We’d recommend leaving the heavy lifting to us. Dekton slabs can be very heavy and fragile if not handled correctly. That’s why Work-tops offers delivery services with proper handling to ensure your slab arrives safe and sound.

Can I Use DIY Dekton Slabs For Bathroom Vanities Or Furniture Tops Too?

Yes, yes, and yes. Dekton is versatile—it works beautifully in bathrooms, utility rooms, coffee tables, desktops, and even outdoor kitchens. Just ask, and we’ll recommend the best size and finish.

How Does Dekton Compare To Quartz Or Granite For DIY Customisation Projects?

Dekton gives you a lot more flexibility, especially when it comes to heat resistance and UV stability. It’s more modern-looking than granite and more durable in high-traffic zones than quartz. And the bonus? With Work-tops, you can order bespoke pieces online just as easily as quartz or granite—if not easier!
