New Louise Blue Quartzite Kitchen

Cornwall, United Kingdom

Our Installation Story

This Cornwall kitchen was never going to be a quiet one. The cabinetry is finished in a deep charcoal tone, so there was already a strong, contemporary foundation in place. The choice of New Louise Blue Quartzite takes that further, bringing together smoky grey, warm amber, copper and earthy brown tones across the worktops and splashbacks. Rather than limiting the stone to the horizontal surfaces, the installation carries it up behind the cooking area and along the wall, giving the natural pattern a much larger canvas.

The Vision

Dark Cabinetry. Dramatic Stone. One Strong Palette.

The design already had plenty of contrast, so there was no need to introduce lots of separate finishes. The idea was to let the quartzite bring the colour and movement while the dark cabinetry provides the background.

Design Objective
Make the natural stone the main feature.
Our Execution
Selected and positioned the slabs so the stronger blue-grey, copper and golden areas remain visible across the key surfaces.
Design Objective
Give the island a substantial, furniture-like finish.
Our Execution
Continued the quartzite vertically down the exposed end of the island for a full waterfall effect.
Design Objective
Give the cooking area more impact.
Our Execution
Carried the quartzite up the wall behind the cooking zone, allowing the natural pattern to continue vertically.
Design Objective
Create contrast without competing with the stone.
Our Execution
Kept the surrounding cabinetry dark and understated so the quartzite remains the dominant visual element.
Design Objective
Maintain consistency across the kitchen.
Our Execution
Planned the stone across the perimeter runs so the different sections feel connected rather than pieced together.
Design Objective
Create a useful centrepiece for the room.
Our Execution
Fabricated the generous island surface with enough open stone around the cooking area for everyday preparation and use.
Final Outcome — The finished kitchen has a very different feel from a standard neutral worktop installation. The dark cabinetry gives the room its depth, while New Louise Blue brings in the warmer colours — particularly the copper, amber and brown tones visible across the island and splashback. The waterfall end makes the island look particularly substantial, and the polished surface catches the lighting across the larger areas of stone. It is the kind of installation where moving around the kitchen gives you a slightly different section of the slab to look at each time.

New Louise Blue Quartzite

New Louise Blue Quartzite is a natural stone with a particularly varied appearance. Depending on the slab, you can find blue-grey, charcoal, cream, brown, copper and golden tones alongside areas of more dramatic mineral movement. It is well suited to kitchens where the worktop is intended to become a major part of the interior design rather than simply provide a practical surface.

Make The Island The Centre Of Attention

A large island gives a dramatic quartzite the space it needs. In this Cornwall project, the New Louise Blue Quartzite does not stop at the top of the island — the stone drops down the exposed end, making the pattern visible from across the room. With a stone this expressive, using small sections would lose much of what makes the material interesting. Here, the quartzite has enough room to run across the island, perimeter worktops and splashback, allowing the different colours and formations to appear as part of one overall scheme.

Pricing Guide

New Louise Blue Quartzite Kitchen Price, Cornwall

Natural quartzite kitchens are priced individually because the amount of material and fabrication required can vary considerably from one project to another. A large island with waterfall ends and matching splashbacks will naturally require more stone and fabrication than a straightforward perimeter worktop installation. Slab availability, thickness, cut-outs, edge details and installation access are also considered when preparing a quotation.

FAQs

Questions About Unique Quartzite Kitchen Worktops

Yes. Quartzite is commonly used for kitchen worktops and islands, and a large island gives a strongly patterned slab plenty of room to show its natural character.
Yes. The stone can be fabricated into waterfall-style ends where the slab dimensions, layout and installation requirements allow it.
This is not possible because every natural stone will have different levels of minerals in them and that makes the patterns different. But don't worry because the collections that we have are all stunning.
Many natural quartzites benefit from sealing to improve resistance to staining and everyday kitchen use. The exact maintenance requirements depend on the individual stone and finish.
Quartzite is generally a very hard natural stone and is widely used for kitchen applications. However, it is still a natural material and should be cared for appropriately rather than treated as completely maintenance-free.
