Taj Mahal Quartzite Kitchen

Surrey, United Kingdom

Our Installation Story

For this project in

Surrey

, we had a task to install something warmer in a kitchen which clearly showed a contemporary direction. The clients wanted to avoid making it look monochrome. If you pay attention, the cabinetry combines clean white base units with warm woody cupboards on the wall. It also has some darker charcoal elements. This creates an interesting mix without making the room feel busy. We had to choose something that would bring those different parts together naturally and also not look odd. That is how

Taj Mahal Quartzite

was selected.

The Vision

Warm Neutrals, Clean Lines & One Continuous Stone

The idea here was not to make every element match. Instead, the kitchen uses different textures and colours while allowing the quartzite to act as the visual link between them.

Design Objective
Create a cleaner alternative to tiled walls.
What We Did
Continued Taj Mahal Quartzite directly from the worktop onto the wall, removing grout lines and creating a seamless transition.
Design Objective
Keep the lower kitchen light and uncluttered.
What We Did
Paired the pale cabinetry with the warm tones of the quartzite rather than introducing another strong colour.
Design Objective
Introduce contrast without overpowering the room.
What We Did
Used the darker cabinetry as a visual counterpoint to the light quartzite and white surfaces.
Design Objective
Give the cooking zone a practical yet finished backdrop.
What We Did
The full-height quartzite splashback creates a durable stone surface behind the freestanding stainless steel range cooker.
Once Everything Came Together — The finished kitchen feels contemporary without becoming cold. The polished finish catches the available light softly, bringing out the faint gold, beige and greige movement in the quartzite.

Taj Mahal Quartzite

The quartzite works especially well with the mix of finishes in this kitchen. The white base units keep things fresh, while the wood-effect cupboards bring some warmth and the darker units add contrast. Taj Mahal sits comfortably between all three. The same stone running from the worktops up into the splashbacks also makes the kitchen feel more connected, rather than having separate surfaces competing for attention. The polished finish catches the daylight nicely, particularly around the window and the central peninsula.

FAQs

Questions About Quartzite Kitchen Worktops

It does fit well in a modern kitchen even though it has a warm tone.
Yes. Large sections of quartzite can be fabricated for splashbacks, subject to slab dimensions and the requirements of the particular installation. Using the same slab for the worktop and splashback creates the continuous appearance seen in this Surrey project.
Natural quartzite may benefit from sealing to improve resistance to staining and everyday kitchen use. The appropriate treatment and maintenance frequency depend on the particular slab and finish.
No. Natural quartzite varies between slabs. The intensity, direction and distribution of the beige, taupe and golden movement can differ, which is why slab selection is an important part of a natural-stone kitchen project.
Yes we have installed quartzite worktops with undermount sinks. They are durable enough to handle the cut-out.
