project had a fairly straightforward starting point: white cabinetry, a practical layout and a kitchen that needed a stronger worktop to bring everything together. The choice ofMarquina Quartz
changed the character of the room immediately. Its deep black background and sharp white veining stand out against the pale cabinets without needing any extra decorative treatment. We worked the quartz around the cooking and preparation areas, including the hob section and the longer run beside the sink, while also carrying the material into the window area. The photographs also show the same dark quartz being used around a separate bathroom window, giving the material another practical application within the property. The result is a kitchen that feels considerably more defined without changing the cabinetry itself.Design Direction

The white cabinets and pale tiled floor give this kitchen a light, practical base. We have also used the same material for the window niche in bathroom.
The Material
Marquina Quartz
This is a charcoal black surface which displays striking white veins. This slab is actually a mimic of natural stone, called the Nero Marquina Marble, originally found in Spain. These dramatic black-and-white looks inspired by classic marble can completely change the feel of an otherwise light space. In this project, the white cabinets, pale floor tiles and dark quartz create a simple three-tone scheme. The veining adds some movement without introducing another dominant colour, which helps the kitchen remain clean-looking while still having a definite focal point.
