White Patagonia Quartzite Table Top

Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Our Installation Story

Some projects are memorable because of their complexity. Others stand out simply because the stone takes centre stage. This project in

Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

had both. The main highlight of our Patagonia White Quartzite bespoke table top that we installed for a dining room was its dramatic, high-contrast patchworking and natural translucency. Say less; it is looking like an abstract piece of art, isn't it? There were a few challenges our KBB experts met during installation, but stay tuned to find out how they tackled it like pros. Have a look through the project images below to see the details for yourself.

The Challenge

What was actually difficult about this job was...

Every installation we photograph and publish comes with its own set of challenges. We include them here so it can help homeowners, architects and designers understand the work involved behind the finished result.

The Problem
Our main challenge was achieving adequate strength without creating a bulky appearance. If we ignore the weight distribution of stone slabs like Patagonia, its stress will concentrate in only specific areas, and that's a major safety hazard because (God forbid!) it increases the risk of the slab breaking due to its own weight.
How We Solved It
Before fabrication began our stone experts reviewed the dimensions and estimated load by keeping it alongside the frame design. Reinforced fixing points and carefully positioned support sections ensured the weight was distributed evenly across the structure. The completed assembly was tested before installation to confirm stability and eliminate unwanted movement.
The Problem
While the most noticeable feature of this Patagonia Quartzite Dining Table, the clean polished perimeter appears effortless in the finished photographs, achieving a consistent edge finish across this crystal-rich quartzite requires considerable attention. Because mineral densities vary, crystal clusters respond differently during cutting and polishing, increasing the risk of small chips or inconsistencies along visible edges.
How We Solved It
By taking our time with the finishing process, we were able to retain the crystal-rich details within the stone while creating a clean, refined edge profile. We ensured the table maintained its natural personality while feeling beautifully finished from every viewing angle. Our experienced fabricators checked the finish repeatedly and made adjustments wherever needed.
The Problem
Moving a large Quartzite Table Top UK installation from the workshop to the property is rarely as simple as loading it onto a vehicle and carrying it through the front door. This slab was substantial in both size and weight, making transportation one of the most important stages of the project. One wrong movement could damage the stone, furniture, flooring or walls.
How We Solved It
Every doorway, corridor and turning point within the property was assessed before delivery day. Our team carefully assessed access points, doorway clearances and turning spaces, because of which we were able to position the natural stone table top accurately without any kind of disruption to the home and keeping the final look awesome as expected.

White Patagonia Quartzite

Patagonia Quartzite is one of those stones that rarely go unnoticed. Originally quarried in Brazil, it combines bright crystal formations with dramatic charcoal and golden mineral movement, making every slab completely unique. The creamy-white crystalline blocks sit right next to highly detailed, chaotic veins of deep brown, gold, and charcoal. It looks like multiple different stones fused together by nature. Its exceptional hardness makes it suitable for everything from kitchen worktops to bespoke furniture pieces like this dining table or a backlit feature wall for a meditation hall. Because this is a natural stone, you will get a unique piece.

FAQs

Questions About Bespoke Quartzite Stone Installation

We have installed over 100 Patagonia Quartzite across British homes. The majority of our enquiries have been for the kitchen. Some for worktops, some islands, splashbacks, and even standalone dining tables. It is the crystal of the quartzite slab that people absolutely love. Every single slab is unique so it makes attractive interior designs and is popular for home renovations.
Not every year, but if we are installing it for kitchen worktops and depending on your use style — whether it is rough, daily or just for guests — sealing is necessary. Quartzite is not as sensitive as marble, but there are some chances of staining from food, wine, and household liquids if it is left for a very long period. We have also written about how to find out if your stone worktops need sealing or not.
Yes, it is definitely heavier than wood, laminate worktops and even quartz worktops. Make sure your fabricator knows what type of structural support and base design you have. It must be very durable to support the weight.
Call us to check if the slab you select has the right finish for outdoors.
There are heavy chances of crystal from a slab chipping while fabricating it, which is why it is important to choose only stone experts with long experience so the chances of this happening are almost zero or minimal.
Most tabletop installations are completed within a single day once fabrication is finished. More complex access arrangements may extend installation time slightly. From the day of the template to delivery, it is a 7–10 working day lead time.
