Arabescato Vagli Bookmatched Polished Marble Kitchen

Aberdeen, United Kingdom

Our Installation Story

This

Aberdeen

kitchen called for something more than a simple work surface. The main focus of the room was its freestanding island, so we had to pick a stone which would easily make it noticeable. Marble, being one of the most expressive stones, was a good pick for this project, and

Arabescato Vagli

became the lucky choice. The bookmatched approach allowed the natural pattern to become part of the architecture of the kitchen, while the polished finish brought additional light into the room.

The Vision

Turning Natural Veining Into The Feature

Rather than trying to hide the dramatic movement within the marble, the fabrication was planned around it. The island, worktop and vertical surfaces were positioned to make the most of the slab's natural pattern while keeping the practical areas of the kitchen easy to use.

Design Objective
Create a deliberate visual flow rather than treating each stone section separately.
Our Execution
The marble was carefully selected and positioned so the veining could continue across adjoining surfaces, giving the installation a strong symmetrical character.
Design Objective
Give the island a substantial, furniture-like appearance.
Our Execution
The marble was carried down the side of the island, creating a continuous stone profile that makes the dramatic pattern visible from the front of the kitchen.
Design Objective
Keep the large preparation surface practical without introducing unnecessary visual breaks.
Our Execution
Precision fabrication was used around the sink opening, retaining clean polished edges and a seamless relationship between the appliance and stone.
Design Objective
Incorporate the cooking zone without taking attention away from the marble.
Our Execution
The hob was accurately templated into the worktop, keeping the surrounding surface generous for preparation and serving.
Final Look โ€” The completed kitchen has the character of a bespoke piece of furniture rather than a standard countertop installation. The light marble keeps the room bright, while the bold grey veining gives the island considerable visual depth.

THE MATERIAL

Arabescato Vagli Bookmatched Marble

Arabescato Vagli has a white background, with clearly visible, egg-shaped, chaotic grey veins forming a unique pattern across the surface. The way the veins appear differs from slab to slab, which means even when the same stone is used for many projects, each installation looks different. Its expressive appearance makes it particularly suitable for feature islands, bookmatched applications and statement kitchen interiors.

Centrepiece for a Home Renovation

If you are renovating your existing space and want it to look refreshed, one trick is to add a piece that instantly gets noticed. There are many items available, but not everything is a value addition. A marble slab, however, is one of the best investments a home can get. Something heavily veined like Arabescato Vagli can produce bookmatched designs, which is enough to completely change the character of dead space.

Pricing Guide

Cost of Marble Stone Surfaces in Aberdeen

The price of a marble kitchen cannot be determined from the stone name alone. Slab selection, kitchen dimensions, bookmatching requirements, cut-outs, edge profiles and installation complexity can all affect the final cost. Larger feature islands may also require additional fabrication because of the amount of visible stone involved. FAQs

Questions About Marble Stone Surfaces

Yes. Its dramatic natural pattern makes it particularly effective on islands where larger areas of the slab can be seen. Careful slab selection is important when the island is intended to be the main feature.
In marble or any other surface with distinct veins, the slabs can be crafted so the final piece has a centre point and a mirrored look on either side โ€” giving the impression of an open book or a butterfly design, as it's popularly known. This is called bookmatching.
Not at all. We have installed countless marble islands and breakfast bars with a waterfall edge. Only experienced stonemasons should work with this delicate technique, to avoid breakage.
Yes, we recommend resealing all types of marble surfaces at least once a year or two. This helps keep the stone non-porous and in good condition.
It depends on what matters most to you โ€” low cleaning demands, or a visually striking, long-term investment. For a low-maintenance worktop, marble-effect quartz is a great fit. For a property you want to add lasting value to and don't mind a little extra maintenance, real marble is the choice.
