Patagonia Polished Granite Kitchen

Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Our Installation Story

This

Hertfordshire

kitchen we worked on last year already had a strong contemporary style, with blue-toned cabinetry and understated brass hardware. The clients just needed a surface which could become the centre of attraction. The homeowners let us know that they were drawn to natural stones, as it would make for a unique space. After looking at the available options,

Patagonia Polished Granite

stood out immediately. Its combination of pale stone, darker mineral formations and warm earthy detailing gave the kitchen the character it was missing.

The Design Direction

Letting the Granite Take Centre Stage

With such a distinctive slab, the challenge was not adding more detail but allowing the natural pattern to do the work. The fabrication was therefore kept clean and precise, with the stone carried across the main preparation areas and up the wall as a matching splashback.

Design Objective
Make the natural stone the main feature without competing with the cabinetry.
Our Execution
The slab was positioned to showcase Patagonia's contrasting mineral formations across the most visible sections of the kitchen.
Design Objective
Extend the character of the granite beyond the horizontal work surface.
Our Execution
Matching pieces were fabricated vertically behind the worktop, creating continuity between the counter and wall.
Design Objective
Keep the cleaning space on the worktop looking neat and save space.
Our Execution
An undermount sink was installed — the granite now looks clean and is easy to wipe.
Design Objective
Integrate the cooking zone without interrupting the overall composition.
Our Execution
The hob opening was accurately templated and fabricated so the appliance sits neatly within the polished granite surface.
Final Outcome — The finished kitchen has a completely different presence once the granite is installed. The slab has enough white on it to keep the kitchen looking bright, yet not too pale — it displays beautiful patterns with darker shades like charcoal, grey and brown.

Natural Stone With No Two Kitchens Alike

Some worktops are chosen because they blend into a kitchen. Patagonia Polished granite does almost the opposite. Its changing mineral formations make the surface a feature in its own right, giving the room a sense of individuality that is difficult to reproduce with a uniform manufactured material. For homeowners who want a kitchen with genuine natural character, this is where Patagonia makes an impression.

FAQs

Questions About Patagonia Granite Kitchen Worktops

No, it is well suited to handle everyday cooking. Once or twice a year, it can be resealed so the polish remains intact — that and daily basic cleaning is enough.
This slab has some traces of translucent minerals, so the best project we've done using it is a backlit feature wall for a meditation hall.
They are about 3m long and 2m high, though each slab differs depending on what's in stock.
Granite benefits from appropriate sealing to help protect the surface against staining. The frequency depends on the particular stone and how heavily the kitchen is used.
No. This is one of the defining characteristics of natural stone. Patagonia can contain significant variation in colour, mineral concentration and movement, so slab selection is an important part of achieving the desired appearance.
It depends on what matters most to you. Patagonia Granite is ideal if you want a completely natural surface with dramatic, one-off patterning. Quartz is generally preferred by homeowners looking for greater consistency in appearance and low-maintenance everyday use.
